Knowledge:
Cernunnos is the god of beasts and wild nature; a protector of the forest. Often called the Horned One or Horned God, Cernunnos is the embodiment of masculine energy, power and fertility. He’s associated with the hunt and the underworld (as certainly the hunt can result in death.) Cernunnos is often pictured holding a serpent in one hand (a frequent symbol of death.) and a torc in the other. The torc is the Celtic symbol of nobility. This is no doubt a sign that Cernunnos was widely worshiped and a major god in the Celtic pantheon.

His sacred colors are green and gold. His offerings include acorns, oak leaves, fruit and grains. His sacred number is 7 and his direction is North. He is associated with the element of Earth and the days of Wednesday and Sunday. Incense for him are Rosemary, Pine, Sandalwood, Cinnamon and Musk.

The Green Man usually roams throughout the woodlands, and is sometimes depicted with horns and a mask of foliage (depending on the season). In Celtic magic, he’s known as Pan. His fertility is what he is known for the most; a god of fertility, sexuality, and ruler of the forests.
There are times that he is also called Cern or Cernunnos. Some believe that he is all of the above… the god aspect to the goddess aspect.
He also represents the spirit of agriculture which returns each spring, and flourishes throughout the summer. It is said that whenever plant or crops are grown and harvested that he is there, and when animals mate and give birth, that he is present, keeping watch over their safety. His wisdom is that of truth, and cycles, & embodies rebirth and renewal, growth, knowledge, fertility, sexuality, and abundance in all things.
